Fun drinks, vegetarian poutine and more!
Hey ya’ll!
I hope you’re having a wonderful week! It’s been a busy one for me! I’m doing a collaboration with Square Pie Guys, and I had to do a photoshoot for the collaboration, so I had to be in the city. Honestly, I am so excited for this collaboration to come out! The pizza is insanely delicious!
I also became a Poppi addict and have been really enjoying trying all their flavors! I need to find their Dr Pop and Orange ones! I like how they don’t have a weird aftertaste like most healthy sodas and they really taste like actual soda with a little bit of an acidic kick since they’re made with apple cider vinegar. I’m a fan!
I also spiraled out of control thinking about mashing samosa and ice cream together create some kind of samos-cream combo. Malai sent me some ice cream this week and I’m starting to do some recipe testing!
What’s new this week:
Making fun drinks always makes me feel like I’m playing potions, mixing, stirring, and pouring different liquids together! I shared two new spring drink recipes: a nonalcoholic blood orange and pomegranate mocktail and a limoncello spritz made with Ginger Lime Poppi!
Vegetarian Poutine
Last weekend, I went to the Artisan Cheese Festival in Santa Clara, and I grabbed some cheese curds there! Cheese curds are small, fresh pieces of curdled milk. They are a primary ingredient in the making of cheese. During the cheese-making process, milk is heated and then coagulated with rennet or an acid, causing it to separate into curds (the sold part) and whey (liquid). These curds are then cut, drained, and pressed to form different cheeses.Cheese curds have a slightly rubbery texture, and they"squeak" when you chew on them!
Of course, I had to make poutine with them when I came home! I only ever had poutine once, and it was in Montreal. It’s a Canadian dish made of fries, dotted with cheese curds, and covered beef and/or chicken gravy. The hot gravy melted the cheese curds into delicious, melty bits of goodness!
I made a vegetarian gravy and smothered my fries and curd with it, and OMG, it was amazing. This took me about 10 minutes to make. I used an air fryer to make my frozen fries, and the gravy takes about 6-8 minutes to make!
This recipe serves 1-2 people.
